By appropriating rural imagery, Cackalacka Queer aims to present a queer perspective on places that are traditionally viewed as the antithesis of safety and acceptance for the LGBTQ+ community. Rural and southern communities are homogenized in popular rhetoric, quieting voices that defy the stereotype. These voices are important, and often vulnerable. This project responds as counter propaganda, promoting queer life as normal and meaningful everywhere.
